Matthew is the founder and CEO of Oasis Capital Ghana Limited. He has several years’ investment banking experience, nine of which have been spent in the private equity and growth capital industry. He leads the team on strategy, negotiations, fund raising, investor relations and support.
Prior to Oasis, Matthew was a board member of GroFin Ghana Limited as well as the Country General Manager. He was also a member of the Investment Committee of GroFin Africa Fund, a Mauritius based Pan-Africa SME fund, where he appraised transactions from Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. Before that he was an Investment Manager with Fidelity Capital Partners Limited, a Ghanaian private equity firm. He spent over 9 years with Fidelity Group working with the Group’s credit, corporate finance and private equity practice.
He is a familiar presence in the small business development universe in Ghana, having given lectures on SMEs in various universities and colleges. He currently serves on the boards of Chase Petroleum Ghana Limited, Goldkey Properties Limited and The Akua Kuenyehia Foundation. He is also, the chairman of Asterix Brokers Limited, an insurance brokerage firm he founded in 2007 that provides insurance broking services to SMEs in Ghana.
Matthew holds a BSc degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ghana and an MBA from the Leicester Business School, De Montfort University, UK
Mr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom is a businessman with significant experience in finance and manufacturing. He provides invaluable support in Operations, Investment Process management and business development services to Investee Companies.Joseph started his career in 1999 with Mel consulting Limited as a Consultant, providing business development and financial management solutions to SME clients. Subsequently, he served as the Finance Manager of ENO International from January to October, 2000.
He moved to Massilly Group (a French packaging Conglomerate) as Finance Manager in October, 2000, where he rose through the ranks to become the Managing Director of the Ghana Operations from January, 2005 to March, 2013 when he resigned to join Oasis Capital.
He joined Oasis Capital as a Partner in April, 2013. Joseph holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Ghana and MBA from Wisconsin International University. Joseph speaks English and French fluently.
Alexander Smits van Oyen is a Non-Executive Director of Oasis Capital Ghana Limited. Alex is one of the originators, founders and current Managing Director of Social Venture Capital Fund I BV (SOVEC), Holland based venture capital fund set up in 2007 to invest in SME’s in Africa. As MD of SOVEC, Alex is responsible for identifying opportunities and investing in Africa, portfolio management and setting up partnerships. SOVEC is currently focused on West Africa, especially Ghana, and has invested in a local private equity firm targeting the mid-market in Ghana. Alex also serves on the board of the Fund.
Alex has been actively involved in setting up CDI Netherlands and in the development of CDI Global at international level for over 20 years. He concentrated on M&A involving cross-border deals in industries ranging from IT hardware distribution to pharmaceuticals and business services. In addition, he worked with diverse private equity and financial restructuring that involves privately or family-owned companies. He is a member of DCFA (Dutch M&A Specialists) and an associated member of NVP (Dutch Venture Capital Association). Formerly, he worked with APM, the venture capital arm of ABN AMRO Bank. Alex currently serves on various (business and foundation) boards. Alex holds a BA degree in Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam and an MBA from Technical University Delft (Interfaculteit Bedrijfskunde).
